Miss Minnesota: Plain Cheerios, tackle boxes, and Catch Phrase
Brittany Link, National American Miss Minnesota
I'm oddly particular about my breakfasts. My favorite is PLAIN Cheerios with 2% milk, something I can only get when living with my parents in my hometown. Most of the time, however, I settle for Honey Nut Cheerios and slim milk at the Alpha Chi Omega sorority house at the University of Minnesota which I call home while I'm perusing a double major in Marketing and Supply Chain Operations at the Carlson School of Management.
This summer I'm trading my yoga pants and textbooks for a new business casual wardrobe as an intern at the Schwan Food Company in marketing for their consumer brands. I'm looking forward to the challenging work ahead which will allow me to immerse myself in the real-life application of everything I have learned in class.
When I'm not transitioning into the business world, I enjoy participating in one of my passions in life, pageantry. This ranges from a tackle box full of all my accessories to countless hours of volunteerism throughout my community. I've logged over 850 hours with organizations like Feed My Starving Children, Miracles of Mitch Triathlon and the Ronald McDonald house. In addition, I rock the lyre pride (AXO's symbol) while supporting our nation-wide goal to increase awareness about domestic violence.
I take great pride in my position as Vice President Recruitment at my sorority, working year-round to recruit and welcome the very best women into a wonderful and life-changing family. Also on campus I have volunteered my time as an Admissions Ambassador, worked for The Minnesota Daily as the National Marketing Consultant with clients including Amazon, Jimmy Johns, and Avon, and managed finances for the American Marketing Association as the Vice President Finance.
In my down time, you can find me cheering on the Gophers through thick and thin, critiquing dresses on Say Yes to the Dress, or playing an intense game of Catch Phrase where sometimes the fact I'm blonde becomes quite apparent.
Follow me around for a day and you'll find me curled up on the most comfortable couch in my sorority study lounge, working hard to remain on the Dean's List and continuing to build relationships within the Greek community. Yeah, some days it's enough to tire me out too but who actually needs 8 hours of sleep?
